Thirty Days hath September - Day One - Thank You

Day One and it's all quiet in the studio - what was I expecting? A marching band? I've talked about this project to anyone with ears for the last nine months and now that it's here, I feel suspiciously calm about it all. The project (and I'll explain more about it in a moment, just in case I haven't pinned you to the ground and made you listen recently) has already taught me something, that this OCD organised, prepared for anything artist, can't take part in an event like this and plan everything. I have GOT to take it day by day.

So, 'Thirty Days' was designed for me to create a piece of art every day for the month, to push me out of my comfort zone, present me with new challenges and hopefully do some good along the way. This will culminate in an auction at my studio where all the work will be sold to the general public with the proceeds going to my chosen charity, Oakleaf Enterprise.

Oakleaf is a mental health charity that helps people on their journey back to employment through support methods and work experience in practical skills such as upholstery, garden maintenance and IT training.

So come along with me for the ride. I'll be blogging here every day during the event and you will be able to see the work via social media and my website, all the links can be found to the right of this post. I'm going to take this opportunity to thank a few people too,I'm very honoured to have the support of two companies; SAA and Love From The Artist, two leading arts organisations who have worked closely with me professionally and in the lead up to this event.

I'll also have the support of you all out there, who have already sent me lovely messages of support and promises of bidding on the work but I have four main people to thank. Firstly, my parents who fly the flag, do all the rubbish jobs for me in the background without a moan and tell me when they think something is a bad idea. Secondly my amazing creative designer Jasmine who is my voice when I'm not around, thinks like I do (poor girl) and who never questions my crackers ideas.

Lastly my husband and those who have met him will know of his support of me, his unending ability to shove me forward when I'm doubting myself and his indefatigable sense of humour, making me laugh at myself when I'm taking life too seriously. All this and he has even offered his new band 'Echohead' to play for free at the auction evening!

Well with all this in mind, tonight I will be live on Facebook at 6p.m. (GMT) and I would love it if you can join me, if not I'll be talking to myself and that's just tragic!
